Add a little maple syrup to your Manhattan and welcome in fall with this Maple Manhattan!
I love simple cocktails, which is why I love a Manhattan. All you need for a classic Manhattan is whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. When you have a simple cocktail like a Manhattan, it makes for easy additions. In this case, a little bit of fall is introduced with some maple syrup. Perfect.
We decided to go for a classic with some good old school Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon. In addition to it being one of my favorites, I also wanted to be able to show off my old swizzle stick with the Four Roses on it. Pretty cool!
Some of you may have noticed that I’ve missed my fashion post on Mondays and my restaurant reviews on Thursdays, that’s because I am crazy busy. My photography business gets slammed in the fall. I will probably have to take a couple of weeks off from blogging like I did last year, but I am trying to hold on with a cocktail once a week for as long as I can.
- 2 oz whiskey
- 1/4 oz sweet vermouth
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
- 2 dashes bitters
- maraschino cherry
- Add whiskey, vermouth, maple syrup and bitters to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for 15 seconds and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.
