My new favorite way to use George Dickel – the Midnight Train!
It probably comes as no surprise, but I subscribe to a fairly good amount of alcohol magazines. Everything from Wine Enthusiast to Chilled. As I read each magazine, I use little sticky tabs to mark all the recipes that I want to try. In the recent October/November 2015 issue of Chilled, I saw the Midnight Train cocktail.
Keeping it local with some George Dickel Tennessee Whisky
We had already been talking about doing a Tennessee Booze Bucket List (will be doing a blog post on it soon), so finding a recipe that used George Dickel Sour Mash Tennessee Whisky sounded like the just the thing!
This recipe was created by Alana Zanello, who works at Jacoby’s Restaurant and Mercantile in Austin. It was everything we thought it would be. So delicious! I love a simple 4 ingredient cocktail!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounce Dickel 8 year
- 1 oz Averna Amaro
- 1 oz lemon juice
- 1 oz simple syrup
Instructions
- Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice. Add ingredients and shake 10-15 seconds. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
