During our trip to San Francisco, we decided to have pizza for dinner. Within easy walking distance of our Fisherman’s Wharf hotel was Carmel Pizza. We loved the simple outdoor seating in the pretty patio. As soon as we saw the variety of pizzas we knew we had made the right choice. While the Tutto Porko with mozzarella, Applewood smoked ham, Italian sausage, Italian dry salami and pepperoni was so incredibly tempting, we were in the mood for something lighter.
We settled on the Crudo e Parma, which has mozzarella fior di latte, arugula, Prosciutto crudo di Parma, and Parmiggiano reggiano. It was prefect. The crust was thin and crispy with nicely charred spots that you get thanks to a wood burning oven. The toppings were generous and fresh.
The weather was perfect, we thoroughly enjoyed our pizza and nice glass of wine out on the patio. A great casual location for some authentic wood fired pizza!
