The Marguerite – The Perfect Citrus Cocktail | Tipsy Tuesday

By Pam Greer 13 Comments

The Marguerite cocktail - so refreshing with fresh orange juice, lemon juice, and vodka! www.greyisthenewblack.com

Our gorgeous weather on Sunday, really had me in the mood for a springy cocktail.  A spring time cocktail that would use all that gorgeous citrus that is still in season.  I looked through one of my favorite cocktail books, 200 Cocktails: Hamlyn All Color – because it has lots of simple cocktails and a colored photo of each cocktail.  I don’t know about you, but I am very visually oriented.  I love to see how something is supposed to look.  Sometimes mine does and sometimes it doesn’t.

Marguerite cocktail - so easy and refreshing with fresh orange juice, lemon juice, and vodka! www.greyisthenewblack.com

I was looking for a cocktail that I could whip up in no time and that I had all the ingredients for.  This marguerite was the first one that I turned too.  It sounded so wonderfully refreshing with fresh orange juice and fresh lemon juice.  I wanted something light and without any simple syrup, this was perfect!

Marguerite cocktail made with Blue Ice Vodka www.greyisthenewblack.com

I used my favorite Blue Ice Vodka (no affiliate – it’s just my favorite!).  Such an easy cocktail!  In addition to the orange and lemon juice, you need to add your choice of either raspberry syrup, maraschino liqueur, or grenadine.  Even though I had some of my wonderful Homemade Grenadine, I went with the maraschino liqueur, and it was the right choice!   The only change I made to the recipe was to reduce the amount of vodka.  It called for 6 measures of vodka.  A measure is typically an ounce, and 3 ounces of alcohol sounded like a bit too much for a casual Sunday afternoon cocktail!  I used four measures instead.  If you are looking for citrus vodka cocktail, you have come to the right place!
