This cute hummingbird shirt adds a touch of whimsy to my outfit of the day. Post may contain affiliate links.

I was thinking the other day about the difference between millennial fashion bloggers and those of us in the over 40 and even over 50 group. Our closets. I have clothes in my closet that are older than some of the fashion bloggers out there. It’s possible that I could have 30+ years of clothes in my closet. That’s a lot of clothes. True a lot of them are long gone, but some are still there. So, the reality is, I really don’t need any more clothes.

I definitely don’t need anymore shoes, but let’s not go there. Back to clothes. I don’t need any more. Really I don’t. Oh sure, I could replace a t-shirt here or there as they get worn or stained. But I like clothes. I like new clothes. But gone are the days of buying something just because it’s on sale. Have you read the book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing? While my house is far from uncluttered, I did take away the concept that an object should spark joy. If something doesn’t spark joy, you don’t need it.

I have applied that concept to buying clothes. I only buy something now if it sparks joy. If it makes me happy to look at it. Like this shirt that I found at Forever 21. It’s you basic shirt, a rayon that drapes nicely, a classic cream and black combination. But what I love? It’s covered in hummingbirds in flight. I love hummingbirds. We sit on our porch in the summer and watch them battle it out for the bird feeder. Such tough little fighters. So beautiful. This shirt makes me happy.

Hi Pam:)
You had me at hummingbird, lol…That is such a refreshing shirt. I can’t believe you found it at Forever 21! When I lived in New York, it was one of my favorite places to window shop.
I have clothes from what my mother would say are “from the year of the flood.” I’m not much of a shopper for anything. Food shopping sometimes, lol…
I rarely find anything that “sparks joy” although, I would be more than elated if I could find a pair of jeans like the “good ol’ days” Jordach comes to mind:)
Thanks for adding joy to my evening Pam…I LOVE this shirt!!!
Adorable shirt Pam, and I love your boots 🙂 Maybe with your shirt you will conjure up signs of spring.. I am ready!
Thanks for linking up with Turning heads tuesday!

I do have more clothes than I ever need as well and I am trying to limit the amount of clothes I buy. Your top is cute, I can see why you need to add it to your closet.
Thank you for being a part of TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you soon!

Adorable shirt – just love the cute hummingbirds and color! It looks great with your jeans and boots. I like the concept of only purchasing things that bring joy.
