Eating Out in Chattanooga | El Metate

By Pam Greer Leave a Comment

El Metate Margaritas | Grey is the New Black

When we want to go grab a quick and good dinner that includes drinks with salt on the rim, we head to El Metate.  The one nearest to us, is El Metate 3, which is the Soddy Daisy location.  I’ve eaten at the Hixson location also, but my review primarily is for our Soddy Daisy location.

The Soddy Daisy location recently expanded and now has two rooms for seating.  They’ve added a nice bar area on the one side.  Now that they have expanded, there has been no wait on a Saturday evening, but we do tend to go early.  We are always greeted as soon as we walk in and are escorted to our seat.   Within a minute or two, chips and salsa are placed on our tables.  The chips are crisp and the salsa is flavorful, yet mild.

Usually within minutes of receiving our chips, our server is by to get our drink order, which is almost always a pitcher of the Texas Margaritas.  We get them on the rocks.  And again, the pitcher is brought to our table quickly.  The waiters are all friendly, courteous, and very prompt!

Chicken Chimichanga El Metate | Grey is the New Black

I should probably be more adventuresome in my ordering, but it is always the same thing.  Chicken chimichanga.  The food arrives on a hot plate and is always delicious.  The rice is perfectly seasoned and is dry and fluffy.  The refried beans taste authentic, not like something out of a can.  The guacamole is perfectly seasoned.  The chimichanga is crisp and covered in a queso sauce.   Inside, the shredded chicken is tender and not overly seasoned.

We are always pleased with the food and the service.   We eat there about once a month and receive consistent service and food every time.
