Monkey Town Brewing | Eating Out in Dayton

By Pam Greer Leave a Comment

A review of Monkey Town Brewing company in Dayton, Tennessee.

Monkey Town Brewing

My husband took a Friday off to work in the garden, and after a long day of work, we decided to drive up to Dayton to check out Monkey Town Brewing.   We got there early around 5:30pm.  It was pretty much empty (it filled up considerably as we ate), so we sat by a window to have good food photography light.  The waitress immediately brought us our menus.   My husband asked about beers and ended up going to the bar to talk beers and sample, while I looked over the menu.

The restaurant is set up nicely with tables running along the store front window and then more tables along the side by the l-shaped bar.  The brewing area is enclosed, but visible from just about anywhere in the restaurant.

He came back with a Sprucy Lucy (spelling?).  I believe he said something about pine needles.  All I know is that it was hoppy with a bit of pine and completely yummy.  After one sip, I took his beer, and when the waitress came back to take our order, he had to order another one for himself.   We both ordered the special with was a Bourbon Glazed Salmon with vegetables and grits.

I think one look at my photos will show you how incredibly moist the salmon was!  It was delicious, slightly sweet and cooked perfectly.  The onions and peppers were nicely seasoned and paired well with the salmon.  The grits were also cooked the way I like them, not overly creamy, with some texture, and plenty of buttery flavor.

We loved it and will definitely be going back!
