Big Sur Roadhouse | Dining out in Big Sur

Big Sur Roadhouse

When you are driving up the Pacific Coast Highway through Big Sur, you are warned repeatedly to get gas before going any further.  Signs posting how many miles to the next station dot the road.  The problem was that it was getting near to lunch and I am a person who has to eat when it’s time to eat.   We were afraid because there wasn’t much to choose from, we would have to eat at just any old place.

Big Sur Roadhouse

We literally pulled into Big Sur Roadhouse only because I couldn’t wait any longer to eat.  We had no hopes or expectations.  The decor was inviting with abstract paintings on the wall and lots of wood.  There was a large outdoor patio area, but we chose to eat inside.  We were immediately seated and offered something to drink.  We both chose water.

Hot Turkey Po'Boy from Big Sur Roadhouse

We both chose the Hot Turkey Po’Boy for $12.00.  It was described as turkey with marinated cabbage, beef debris and provolone on country grain baguette.  Served with house potato chips and a pickle.

We were extremely pleased.  The sandwich was excellent.  It was moist and juicy, the cabbage was flavorful and the bread was crusty and perfect.  The house chips were fantastic, lightly seasoned and perfectly crisp.  Homemade potato chips get me every time and these were wonderful!
