Lauren Conrad Dress and Peggy Petrey Cuff

Last Saturday was the night of Chattanooga Symphony’s Uncorked.  You buy a ticket which helps support the symphony orchestra and in exchange you get 3 1/2 hours of wine drinking, food eating, and band listening.  Last year it was rainy, but this year the weather promised to be perfect.  Not too hot.  Even with it not being too hot, I wanted to be comfortable and for me, that’s a dress.  Nothing is cooler than a dress.  I am especially fond of t-shirt type dresses.  So, when I saw this little gray number from Lauren Conrad at Kohl’s, I snapped it up.

I love it’s casual, minimalistic look.  The only nod to embellishment is a little bit of lace at the v-neck collar.   I do wish it was a little more long waisted and a little longer in general, but it wasn’t as crazy short as some of the dresses I tried on!  I liked it’s neutral gray color.  It could easily top a pair of black leggings in the fall, or even tights with boots.   My only other complaint is that I wish it had pockets.  I love dresses with pockets.

The dress was the perfect backdrop for my new Peggy Petrey Artistic Wares Cuff that my husband got me for my birthday from Blue Skies Chattanooga.   The cuff is made from objects that Peggy collects.  I believe that this was from old license plates!  It makes a nice fashion statement, supports a local artist and makes use of old materials!  I’m also wearing my Ray-Ban prescription sunglasses.  I can’t believe it took me 50+ years to finally get prescription sunglasses!  I love them!   My eyes are really bad and these frames with their curved sides really hide how thick my lenses are!

As an added bonus, I give you the fashion stylings of Mr. Grey is the New Black.  He steps in where I plan on standing and I do some test shots to get my camera settings right before handing the camera over to him for my photos.  Here is wearing a Batik Bay shirt that I got him from Kohl’s for his birthday.  Yes, we have a lot of birthdays around here in May, ours are exactly a week apart.
