I had a photoshoot in Ooltewah so we decided to go a little early and grab something to eat at Cambridge Square. First of all, I love Cambridge Square! It reminds me of St. Charles, MO back in my hometown. There were several places that I wanted to try, but we were in the mood for burgers, so we chose Southern Burger Co. The decor is very nice, all grey, black, red and white. We were a bit early, so we were able to snag a booth.
We were both pretty hungry so we started with an order of fried pickles. They were nice and hot and crispy. Very good. I ordered the Raleigh Burger and my husband ordered the Chorizo Burger.
The food is served on quarter sheet pans, with paper, keeping with the minimalist industrial theme of the restaurant. The Raleigh burger came with pimento cheese, a fried egg, and a fried green tomato. It was very good. I ended up taking the tomato off and eating it by itself, there was just so much going on with the burger. Now, here is my only complaint. The fried egg did not have a runny yolk. It was completely cooked all the way through. If I get a fried egg on anything, I want some good yolk porn. The fries were hand cut and hot and crispy.
My husband got the chorizo burger, which I got a taste of. It had lots of good chorizo flavor. He had the same complaint about his fried egg, that I had.
Altogether, it was very good. The burgers were nice and juicy, fries were crispy, beer selection was good and I liked the decor.
