The Chestnut Cup | Tipsy Tuesday

By Pam Greer 18 Comments

All you need for this tasty Chestnut Cup Cocktail are gin, Campari, lemon juice, and orgeat syrup!

The Chestnut Cup - gin, Campari, orgeat syrup, and lemon juice - an easy gin cocktail!

As someone who has made it her job to post a cocktail a week, I get so excited when the new issue of Imbibe arrives!  I immediately sit down and pour (pun intended) over it – looking for the next best cocktail to try.  As someone who loves gin and Campari, I was thrilled to see The Chestnut Cup from The Chestnut Club in Santa Monica California.

The Chestnut Cup - we made it using Big Gin

We had just purchased Big Gin from Captive Spirits Distilling and thought this would be a great cocktail to give it a go. I encourage you to go check out their website, they have some cocktails that are definitely going on my list!  Expect to see The Morning Paper and Heavy Petting on here soon!

The Chestnut Cup

Oh my, this was so good.  As they describe in the magazine, “The richness of orgeat meets the bright bitterness of Campari and lemon.”  We (meaning my husband) make our own orgeat – I’ll have to post the recipe sometime.  Since we still had a few blood oranges left, we used it as a garnish.

This looks pretty with the blood orange garnish and perfect as I’m starting to incorporate more gin based drinks to my repertoire.

I am not a gin fan but I just simply replace it with vodka! My daughter will be crazy for this one, though!

Campari + gin is a tasty combination, but I’ve never tried with the orgeat! Sounds delicious. Cheers!
