Vanilla Vodka Sour | Tipsy Tuesday

By Pam Greer 4 Comments

Vanilla Vodka Sour

Have you been to the liquor store lately?  Vodka has gone insane.  In my favorite store, Vine and Barrel, it takes up one whole side of an aisle!!  There are more types of flavored vodka than I would have even thought imaginable!  I make a lot of my own infused vodka, but it’s nice to know that I can pretty much fulfill every single one of my vodka dreams at the drop of a hat.  Yes, I have vodka dreams, doesn’t everyone?

Vanilla Vodka Sour - easy and oh so tasty!

One of the grandaddies of flavored vodka is Smirnoff’s Vanilla Vodka.  I know that it’s been around forever, because I’ve been using it forever.  One of my favorite uses for vanilla vodka is in homemade sorbets and ice cream.  I always add two tablespoons to the recipe.  This keeps the frozen dessert from freezing so hard.  I put it in every single recipe, like:  Lemon Sherbet, Raspberry Chocolate Chip Frozen Yogurt, Lemon Rosemary Sorbet, and Lavender Sorbet.  Now, I have a new favorite use for it – this yummy Vanilla Vodka Sour!

I found this in 200 Cocktails: Hamlyn All Color  which I mentioned last week with the Clover Club cocktail.  It’s a sweet little book and I highly recommend it!  Mr. Grey is turning into quite the mixologist and this one actually looks as good as the photo in the book!

Vanilla Vodka Sour

  • ice cubes
  • 4 measures vanilla vodka
  • 1 measure sugar syrup
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3 measures lemon juice
  • 10 drops Angostura Aromatic Cocktail Bitters  to decorate

Put 8-10 ice cubes in a cocktail shaker.  Add all the ingredients except the bitters.  Shake until a frost forms on the outside of the shaker.  Pour (don’t strain) into two martini glasses and shake the bitters on top to decorate.

How much vodka do you use? I didn’t see that listed.
