Champy’s Famous Fried Chicken | Eating Out in Chattanooga

By Pam Greer 3 Comments

Champy's Famous Fried Chicken

When the full name of your restaurant includes “Famous Fried Chicken” – you know that’s what you have to order!  We went to Champy’s about 5:00 o’clock on a Wednesday (yes, it was early, but we had just picked up or CSA).  We had the choice of seating outside (which was now covered with heating units going – and actually seemed like it was quite warm), but we chose to sit inside.  We were seated at a tiny round two top table in the back next to where the waitresses were congregating.  It makes for kind of crowded eating – as you can see in the above photo.  Next time, we will choose to eat outside.

Champy's Famous Fried Chicken Menu

My husband and I both ordered a chicken plate, he got a two piece white meat plate for $8.25 and I got the 2 piece dark meat plate for $7.50.  They came with slaw, baked beans and bread.  The food came very quickly.  My husband’s plate had probably the biggest chicken wing I have ever seen – the breast was pretty huge too.

The chicken was amazing.  Crispy with such a light breading.  Super moist, even the white meat was moist.  The cole slaw and baked beans were pretty standard, but you probably wouldn’t want anything to take away from that chicken!  This was a lot of food for the price, an excellent deal.

The decor is very eclectic and I loved the women’s bathroom which had albums and album covers all over the walls.

We will definitely go back – even as I type this, I want some more of that chicken!

Fried Chicken in Chattanooga. Just added another thing to the Bucket List. Seriously I really need to win the lottery so that I can fulfil my dream to eat my way around the USA.
