The Feed Co. Table & Tavern | Eating Out in Chattanoooga

A review of The Feed Co. Table & Tavern in Chattanooga, TN.

The Feed Co. Table & Tavern

When we walked into The Feed Co. Table & Tavern a little after 6-ish on a Tuesday night, we were immediately greeted by the hostess, Ellen.  She asked where we would like to sit and when I told her that I would be taking food photos, she walked us around until we found a table in the bar area by a window that looked good.  She was extremely helpful and friendly!

The first thing I noticed was all the gorgeous wood.  I especially loved the painted and distressed wood on the walls – I could use some of that for my food photography!  Our server, Ashley was at our table almost immediately.  We decided on an appetizer, their fried pickled green beans sounded good.  I love pickled dilly beans and couldn’t wait to try them fried.

Fried Pickled Green Beans from The Feed Co. Table & Tavern

The fried pickled green beans were amazing!  They were lightly battered, like a tempura and then fried.  The green beans were still crisp and slightly chewy and the dipping sauce was perfect.  The tang of the pickling was just right and gave it a little something extra.

Fish and Chips from The Feed Co. Table & Tavern

I ordered the fish and chips.  The fish was perfectly cooked, moist and still crispy.  The fries however were not good.  They were very dark and overcooked, and you would expect them to be super crispy being that brown, but they were more soggy than crispy.  After looking at some other photos of their fish and chips on Yelp and Facebook, I can see that their fries don’t always look like this.   Though one reviewer did mention that his fries tasted like they had been in the fryer too long and that the portion was small – the same thing that I would say about mine.

Catfish with Smoked Tomato Relish | The Feed Co. Table & Tavern

My husband ordered the catfish with the smoked tomato relish.  His was excellent!  The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious.  The green beans were lightly cooked, still crisp tender.  The catfish was also cooked perfectly.  The smoked tomato relish was amazing.  It added another dimension to the dish.

Overall, we were very pleased.  My fries were an obvious miss, but everything else made up for them.  I am already trying to plan our next visit so I can get some more of those fried pickled green beans.

I could eat fish, cooked any way, at every meal so both dishes look great. I’m not a fan of stacked food but that’s easily corrected once the plate hits the table.

    Great photos btw.
