For our second morning in California, we again chose a restaurant near our hotel. We settled on Jinky’s Studio City Cafe. We arrived at 8:15 on a Sunday morning and were seated right away. We had a nice booth that was near the door to the kitchen and the restrooms. I mention this only because there were children running in and out of those doors the whole time we were there (perhaps the owner’s children?).
Our waiter came after a reasonable amount of time and we order the 2+2+2 = two eggs, two pancakes, and two pieces of bacon. I got the pumpkin pancakes and Mr. Grey got the oat pancakes. The food arrived fairly quickly and was perfect. My pumpkin pancakes were very good – not overdone on the pumpkin pie spice like some can be. They were light and fluffy. My eggs, over light, were again perfect and the bacon was nice and crispy.
Luckily the hostess came by and refilled our coffee because we never saw our waiter again after placing our order (the food was delivered by someone from the kitchen). Or rather we saw him, he just never stopped by. He didn’t ask if the food was okay or if we needed anything, he never brought us the check. It was kind of strange, especially since he had to walk by us repeatedly to enter orders into the register. I finally had to get up and ask someone if we could get a check and pay.
Food was good, the waiter (I can’t remember his name) was terrible.
