Mid Winter Margarita | Tipsy Tuesday

By Pam Greer 8 Comments

Mid-Winter Margarita | Grey is the New Black

So, last week on my foodie blog, Sidewalk Shoes, I posted a review of a cocktail book, called Shake: A New Perspective on Cocktails.  It is filled with all sorts of cocktail recipes that I plan on trying.  Since margaritas are tied for first place wit gin and tonics as my drink of choice, there wasn’t much doubt which recipe I would start with.  Even though we are nowhere near mid-winter, this mid-winter margarita was mighty tasty!  The chile salt added a nice hot bite to the drink!

Mid-Winter Margarita (from Shake)

  • 3 shots of tequila
  • 1 1/2 shots Cointreau
  • 1 1/2 shots fresh lime juice
  • 1 1/2 shots fresh grapefruit juice
  • 2 slices of lime to garnish
  • chile salt (equal parts dried Mexican chiles and sea salt)

Combine the tequila, Cointreau, lime juice and grapefruit juice in the shaker.

Add ice to above the level of the liquid and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.

Strain in to chilled rocks glasses, rimmed with salt and containing large cubes of ice.  Garnish with lime.

Makes 2 drinks.
