As we were driving from Santa Cruz to San Francisco, we found ourselves around Half Moon Bay, California right around lunch time. Thank goodness for all the food apps on my phone that led us right to Flying Fish Bar and Grill. We arrived around 11:30 and were seated immediately. The restaurant has an island vibe with bamboo and tiki hut type thatched awnings.
We both ordered the Grande fish tacos – one mahi mahi and one scallop. The Grande plate was $14.75, a bit steep for lunch, but so worth it! The “Grande” added cheese and guacamole.
These were some of the best fish tacos that I have ever eaten. The mahi taco had a wonderful mango salsa and a nice big portion of fish. The scallop taco had two huge scallops. Both tacos were excellent. The black beans were seasoned with onions and green pepper and tasted like they were homemade from dried beans, not from a can. The pilaf had wild rice and carrots and seasoned perfectly.
One of our favorite lunches of the trip!
