Easy Fashion Transition from Winter to Spring | Fashion Over 50

Fashion Transition from Winter to Spring - light gray j. jill jacket

I’m back again this week talking about making the easy fashion transition from winter to spring.  Sometimes these between season days can be so tricky to dress for.  The mornings are chilly, but the day may warm up.   Even though flowers are blooming and trees are getting their leaves, we still may fall below freezing.  With all the flowers blooming, you naturally want to wear lighter and brighter colors.  It is still too cool for your spring and summer shirts, but winter browns and blacks seem to heavy and dark.   If you get cold easily, sandals are out of the question, but even just going sockless makes you feel all light and springy.

Transitioning from winter to spring wardrobe | Fashion Over 50

My number one piece for making the fashion transition from winter to spring is a gray J. Jill jacket that I picked up several years ago.  It is a knit, almost a heavy t-shirt type fabric.  It provides the perfect amount of layering warmth.  The light neutral gray color is perfect, it goes with everything.  It can be made casual with jeans, like I show here or even dressed up a bit.

My number one wardrobe staple for these early spring days are long sleeve t-shirts.  They are perfect.  I usually find them at Target, like this gray and cream striped one from Mossimo.  I almost always choose v-necks because I think they are more flattering.  It’s perfectly comfortable and casual.  As the day warms up, off comes the jacket.  If the day gets even warmer, the sleeves can be pushed up.

My feet are always cold, so sandals don’t come out for me until it is really warm.  So lightweight shoes like these gray oxfords from Restricted are perfect.   They are actually Restricted “Liberty” denim in a color called Dove Gray.  I don’t know about you, but I adore oxfords.  After so many years of wearing high heels, I’m afraid my feet can’t handle them any more, so I am always looking for fun, casual flat shoes.

There you have it, an easy fashion transition from winter to spring.

A good jacket is essential for that transition but I also love the stripes and find it’s awesome all year round. Would love if you can link up to http://the-wardrobe-stylist.com/2016/04/04/porcelain-skin/
