My thoughts on Why I’m Going to do a Capsule Wardrobe. Post may contain affiliate links, full disclosure in sidebar.
Before we get into the reasons Why I’m Going to do a Capsule Wardrobe, let’s talk about where I am in life and what I do. I just turned 59. I’m starting to think about things. Mainly that I have too many things. My husband and I are lifetime collectors. We loved going to estate sales and garage sales. I used to sell on Ebay back before the rest of the world did. I have eight chandeliers hanging in my garage. I think that sentence pretty much sums it up.
It is the same with my clothes and shoes. I have clothes in my closet that are over 20 years old. They aren’t in style and they don’t fit my style now anyway. I’ve been fascinated by the idea of a capsule wardrobe. It sounds so freeing to just have clothes that you love. So, I started stage one. The great purging. I have sent 5 trash bags full of clothing to Goodwill and I’m still not finished. It is so freeing, it’s amazing how much lighter I feel.
I have been reading everything I could find on building a capsule wardrobe. I could do it myself from scratch, but then I found Classy Yet Trendy. It is exactly what I am looking for! I’m trying to decide between The French Minimalist Summer or the Summer Essentials.
I am really drawn to the simple classic lines of the French Minimalist Capsule Wardrobe. Since I mainly work from home, I would need to substitute something for the skirts on days that I’m home. I probably already have many of the pieces. I love the neutral shades.
The Summer Essentials is also very popular. It adds a few more trendy pieces and another pop of color.
As you can see in the first picture, my stay at home wardrobe is primarily tees and shorts. I hope that by using a capsule wardrobe, I can get out of my rut a bit and at least be a bit more polished and styled. Stay tuned as I begin this journey!
Anyone else do a capsule wardrobe?
This week I am linking up with:

This seems like a great idea.
I have read about capsule wardrobes and do feel like I have plenty of clothes myself… I bet it was freeing as I send items to Goodwill each Spring. Looking forward to seeing how you get on with the idea.

French women swear by having a minimalist/capsule wardrobe so I completely understand why you’re doing it at this stage in your life. Thanks for sharing at the Moda Thursday linkup!
